Play with mirrors to give home artistic look…

Expanding walls, amplifying light, breaking up visual clutter, mirrors can be used to solve most any design dilemma. Perhaps that's why we feature their awesomeness so often.

Most people use it every day without thinking about its beauty or significance.

If you find mirrors hugely fascinating, here’s how using them in different ways can make your home look playful and classy the same time.

Tricks of the Trade

1. Position the wall mirrors well. A good positioning of wall mirrors is a fantastic way to help you in decorating your home and the mirrors are available on innumerable type, designs and prices.

2. Use floor mirrors. One of the most useful techniques to modernize your home is to use floor mirrors. The most powerful advantage of using a floor mirror is that after using the mirror, the room looks larger than it actually is. It’s a classic interior decorator’s trick to create instant―if not real―square footage.

3. Place a mirror behind a light source. Whether it's behind a candle, a pendant light, or a bedside lamp, a mirror will help to maximize the light's reach while creating an almost magical effect.

4. Use a mirror behind a piece of furniture in tight spaces. Mirrors the same width of the furniture make the piece look purposeful and prominent rather than shoved in.

5. Full-Length Mirror as Table Centerpiece. A dining room can be a wonderful place to bring in a mirror or a mirrored tabletop. Place an inexpensive full-length mirror (the kind you attach to a closet door) atop the dining-room table. Set vases of various heights and forms―some with, some without flowers―on the mirror. But make sure it does not reflect strong glare from recessed lighting or chandelier bulbs.

6. Incorporate a mirror into a salon style art wall, on a patterned wall, or into a shelf arrangement. In general, the idea can be tricky to implement in small rooms. Pulling a mirror into the grouping provides a little visual breather.

7. Mirroring an Entire Wall. Mirroring an entire wall can be tricky. The key to mirroring a wall is to divide it up into sections.

8. Aesthetic Appeal. When trying to decide whether to hang a mirror or a piece of art, the choice should always come down to the one that is most aesthetically appealing. But in many cases a mirror just works better. With a beautiful frame and decorative details, it is art.

9. Pick what style of mirror you want.More often, designed mirrors involve lots of craftsmanship to add dramatic touch to your property.

Rule #1: Hanging a Mirror

When hanging a mirror, consider the height, which is critical to getting the best reflection. Over a mantel, a mirror may be too high to see yourself or the room in the reflection and might end up reflecting the ceiling.

Rule #2: Reflecting Light

Unless it is used for primping, a mirror looks best when it reflects light from a window.

Rule #3: Check the Reflection

Check what will be reflected in the mirror by standing where it will hang and looking at the opposite wall.

Rule #4: Clear the Clutter

Clear clutter when installing a mirror above a table or countertop. You don't want the accoutrements of daily life reflected two or three times.

Rule #5: Notice the Color

Consider the color of the adjacent walls when using a wide mirror because the color will be intensified. A particularly dark hue on the walls will cast a stronger blue tint in the mirror. White, beige, and gray marble, however, sparkle in bathrooms with expanses of mirror. This combination appears often in luxurious bathrooms.

Imagine a creative and modern looking mirror hanging in your home or office. You can easily convert your ordinary wall to a genuine contemporary designed wall. Decorations with mirrors uniquely make an artistic look.
